New 4,200 SF Energy Efficient home
Napa California

The Design for this new modern home is
set in a rural Napa County, California
rolling hill landscape. The Design takes
advantage of the spectacular 360 degree
views from a large shaded roof terrace.
Continuously blowing high wind provides
natural cooling through slotted hard wood
panels in the upper level walls. The
Design borrows elements from the
craftsman, Japanese, and thirties
contemporary styles.

Modern design goes much further then the
physical form of buildings alone; It
requires a re-thinking of history, and
application of building materials &
methods of construction in a way that
makes sense, and is meaning full in the
present.

This 5 bedroom home is highly Energy
Efficient through the use of super
insulating 'structural insulated wall panels'
(SIPs).

In addition, we are re-introducing 'forgotten
technology' - Passive cooling, heating,
lighting, and water conservation means &
methods used by our ancestors out of
necessity. This home re-applies those old
methods with the aid of modern
technology. The end result is a virtually self
sustaining 'off-grid' home.

The home harvests rain water, and
recycles grey waste water. Strategic
placement of windows and shade
elements drastically reduce the need for
Mechanical Cooling, and Electrical
Lighting despite the hot summers, and
pretty cold winters nights...
